On the first anniversary of the Israeli aggression on Gaza (27.12.2008), CJPME invites you to join us for the "Human Drama in Gaza" exhibition that will be held starting Friday, January 15, 2010 and will end on February 28, 2010.

"Human Drama in Gaza" is a gripping photo exhibition about the realities of life in the Gaza Strip under war and siege. Produced by Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME), the Montreal stop is the first in a series of cross-Canada shows giving perspective to the Assault on Gaza which began Dec. 27, 2008, and lasted 22 days. CJPME’s artistic team reviewed tens of thousands of photos, and spent hundreds of hours researching the stories behind the photos featured.

At its core, "Human Drama in Gaza" is a story about human beings seeking to find dignity and hope as their world is destroyed around them. The exhibition features 44 photos, taken before, during and after the 22-day assault on Gaza by professional photographers from Israel, Palestine, and the West. The photographers whose work is featured caught simple everyday events in Gaza. Yet given the extreme circumstances in Gaza, these otherwise normal scenes take on a shocking new poignancy.

Through this Exhibition, Canadians will discover their shared humanity with distant brothers and sisters in Gaza, and will inevitably come away with a new compassion for the people of this tormented land.

Please note that as of January 22, 2010, Cinéma du Parc will simultaneously show the movie called 'Rachel'. Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old American peace activist, was killed by an Israeli army bulldozer while nonviolently trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian house in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
